Check it out- just in time for our annual Copic Marker How to Draw panels at San Diego Comic Con, Adam and I were featured in the Copic Marker Inspire sections of their website!

So I know i haven't been here posting much. Truth be told. I haven't been drawing much. We got a puppy right about this time last year, and he's taken up all of my free time, and some of my not-so-free time. But things are coming around. Said puppy (his name is Potter) turned a year old a few weeks ago- he's lovely and smart and after almost a year at it, fairly well trained. I've begun getting some work- honest to goodness drawing assignments, and ones outside the realm of sketch cards, so that's peachy-keen! And I'm being advertised as being at some upcoming conventions, so I figured I'd better update the hot-mess that is my DeviantArt page.

So here I am- I'll clean out a bunch of the now embarrassing old stuff (once upon a time, it was brand new stuff I was soooo proud of). I'll add some new things (things I hope to one day be embarrassed about) and maybe throw in some new puppy photos while I'm at it.

I'll update which conventions I'll be appearing at while I'm here, too. Please bear in mind, if you are interested in a commission, I don't generally do them at shows. My schedule gets a bit tight at events- and I'm not super at drawing while sitting behind a convention table. Its better for everyone if you drop me a line in advance of a show- that way I can plan to either have it done for you by the time the show starts, or I can have enough of it done that working on it at the table isn't completely impossible.

Thanks all- hope to see you around!

With San Diego Comic Con behind us, I can focus on the rest of 2014! Adam and I will be at the Baltimore Comic Con in September, the new York Comic Con in October, and Thought Bubble in Leeds, England in November. Hope to catch you at one of those!!!

Also a bit of news- I opened a StoreEnvy account! Now you can get prints, sketchbooks, or my original artwork at www.allisonsohn.storeenvy.com

well, we are only 4 weeks from San Diego Comic Con! I'll be there, in booth 4607 along with Adam Hughes, and this year I'll have a brand new sketch book, new prints, and original artwork for sale. Come see me if you'll be attending the show!

So; here it is: I can finally call myself a comic book artist! I finished the artwork to my first comic book cover back in October of 2013, and I had to keep it to myself until the book was solicited. I learned last night from a friend that has a comic shop that she saw my name in her monthly orders-- My issue of Red Sonja has been solicited! I say "my issue"- I only did the cover. But there it is; issue #10 of the Gail Simone run, my cover will apparently be one of the incentives. It should be in stores (if your shop ordered it) in April.

So it's a new year, and I'm going to try and draw more. We all say that every year, don't we? Well I'm trying to be committed; I've decided to draw a piece of art from Downton Abbey after each new episode (not including the first- I made this decision after that). Tune in each week and see if I can hold to my new-found project!

First, I want to thank everyone for the birthday wishes- most kind of you!!! I really do appreciate it!

so the Fall is here, and with it, some exciting news for me. This autumn will see the release of two sketch cards set I was involved with, as well as an announcement for my first comic book cover! As soon as all three are announced officially,I'll be sure to post art from each!

Next stop; and our next to lat convention of the year; NEW YORK COMIC CON!

I'll be in artist's alley, at table BB9 along with adam who will be at BB10. I'll have some new drawings in my portfolio for sale- I'm trying to get about 10 of those gray scale portraits completed before we leave on Wednesday morning. So far I have two Doctors and a Princess drawn. You'll just have to come by and see which ones, as I fear I won;t have time to scan them! I'm hoping to add some Asgardians, Avengers, and citizens of Westeros. But only time will tell if I can get to them....

Commissions: I rarely have time to do them at a show. But this one is longer than usual; 4 days. So drop me a message between now and Tuesday night if you want one, and I'll see what I can do.

I have a piece in the art auction this year; it's in my gallery, titled Valar Morghulis. All proceeds will benefit the St. Jude Children's hospital.

I also will have a new print: The Man of Steel. See you all at the show!

Adam and I will be in Portland, Oregon for the Rose City Comic Con this weekend.

A couple of weeks later, we'll be in New York for the New York Comic Con. I'm trying to finish my donation to their art auction TODAY. It'll be a 16 by 20 inch Game of Thrones extravaganza. I'm almost done pencilling; then I'll try and take some in progress shots of my coloring it with Copics.

Wish me luck!

and lastly;

North Carolina Comic Con in Durham, November 9th and 10th.

Well, my portfolio is full of an awesome assortment of new artwork! I'm a little light on sketch cards, but I guess I focused more on those portraits I was doing. Oh well.

I may have time for commissions; catch me early in the show. Or heck, if you know what you want, message me NOW; I still have a day or two, I might be able to get something laid out that I can finish in our hotel.

I'll have three prints available, including my new Breaker of Chains print, featuring Daenerys from Game of Thrones. MAN there's a lot of Game of Thrones art out there- !

I've also got my Copic Marker panel at the show; stop in if you can: www.copicmarker.com/allison-so…

no, wait! I meant to say SAN DIEGO COMIC CON is coming! Though both are sort of ominous.

So, I'll be back in San Diego, installed as ever at the Adam Hughes & Allison Sohn booth in the illustrators section, booth number 4607.

I'll have a new prints of my recent Daenerys artwork from Heroes Con, but no new sketchbook. Sorry.

I'll be hosting a how to draw panel on Saturday from 11:00am to 12:15pm in room 2. It will focus on using Copic markers, and the nice folks over at Copic have donated a couple of sets for us to give away during the panel!!! I haven't decided what I'm going to draw yet; I usually start and finish a sketch cards. So we'll have to see.

And I think that's about it. See you all in San Diego!

Hi all;

I'll be at Heroes Con this coming weekend, June 7th & 8th. I'll only be there Friday and Saturday. I'll be at table AA-1302 and I'm hoping to have a piece in the art auction.

See you there;

Adam and I will be in San Jose, California for the BIG WOW COMIC FEST. Come and see us at tables AA71 and AA72. We'll both have prints and original artwork for sale, as well as sketchbooks and Adam's DVD. I'm also trying to fill out my selection of original sketch card artwork; so come on by and say hello!

Hi all;

I'll be at the Calgary Comic Expo April 26th, 27th, and 28th with my husband, Adam Hughes. Because I run our booth, I often don't have time to work on commissions at the table. So I'll have some pre-drawn sketch cards and some prints with me. But if you wanted something custom, I ask that you please not wait until the show to ask, as I likely won't have the time to do it at the table. You can drop me a note through DA regarding commissions for pick up at the show, and I'll try and get back to you ASAP.

thanks!

Hi all;

I'll be with my husband, Adam Hughes, at Mega Con in Orlando the coming weekend, March 15th, 16th and 17th. Adam is a guest at the show, and I'll be working his booth. I don't usually bring my drawing supplies to shows where I'm not a guest. So if you want a commission, and thought you'd hunt me down at the show? First, you can find me at Adam Hughes' booth. Second, and most importantly, contact me before the show. Drop me a note here on DA; otherwise I won't be bringing my drawing supplies if I don't have to!

The weekend after Mega Con we'll be in Rochester Minnesota for Fablestown & Beyond (we call it Fablescon). I won't be set up there either, but I'll have our dogs Tonks and Luna with us for their first ever convention! They refuse to sign books or do commissions. SUCH prima donnas!

thanks;
Allison

I don't have much to say, other than I'm inspired and I'm going to try and stay that way. I'm going to try and keep working, keep producing art, and I'll post what I do as I do it.

well, I'm finally home; feels like its been a million years, but also like that week of my life just disappeared. Where does the time go?

I had quite a bit of interest in the commissions I did for this year's San Diego; I want to thank everyone that both asked me to draw pieces for them, and that had such nice things to say about the resulting pieces of art. I know I haven't been terribly productive the past couple of years, but with much of my health issues behind me, I'm thinking that now is when I get back into drawing seriously. So please, drop me a note or an email if you'd like a commission! My plan is to stay busy drawing, and try and make up for all that lost time at the table!

My thanks again to everyone that helped make Comic Con special!

I'll be at booth 4607, just like every year. But this time around, Adam will be staying home. Someone has to work on Before Watchmen, and it sure as hell isn't going to be me! Still, I'll be hanging out selling prints and sketchbooks for Adam, as well as doing some of my own work. I'm trying to get all my commissions done before I leave for Comic Con, so if you wanted something, please message me BY MONDAY.

See you there!
